Conversion Analyst (Contract position)

Norfolk Southern is requesting resumes for a conversion analyst to assist in a data conversion project from numerous legacy systems into SAP using IBM’s InfoSphere suite of products. The position is based in Roanoke, Virginia. Position will be filled as soon as possible.

Education: 4-yr College Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.

Skills Required:
• Experience with IBM InfoSphere (Information Analyzer, Data Stage, Quality Stage, Business Glossary)
o Special emphasis on extracting various data sources into IBM product suite (Oracle, MS SQL, flat files, Mainframe DB2 and IDMS, DB2 UDB)
• Cobol
• TSO ISPF
• MVS JCL (including job scheduling skills)
• Experience with mainframe systems and data sources
• Involvement in all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle
• Strong problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong teamwork ethic and customer support focus
Skills Preferred:
• Experience with Serena Changeman
• Experience with IDMS
• Experience with SAP
This position provides the opportunity to develop data extracts from primarily a large scale, high volume, mainframe environment. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to work with NS and the System Integrator to extract data sources into the IBM InfoSphere suite. The candidate’s other responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

• Coordinate meetings with subject matter experts and system integrator for data mapping sessions.
• Prepare data cleansing scripts/plans
• Prepare reports for data cleansing and profiling to prepare for the SAP conversion
• Develop data migration plan
• Develop Business Rules, processes and implementation guidelines for maintaining and updating client data
• Assist in establishing data to support all testing efforts
• Research data issues/questions and find root causes
• Develop Data Conversion Scripts, Reports.
• Develop Data Profiling reports

All activities must adhere to NS established change control policies and prescribed procedures.
