We are seeking an experienced and seasoned “Senior Staff” GoldenGate administrator with experience in migrating/replicating data between Sybase and Oracle databases and vice-versa. Responsibilities are to provide 7x24 operational, engineering, and related infrastructure and administration services for mission-critical databases in the fast-paced E*Trade environment for brokerage, banking, and related financial and other business/enterprise applications. This position will report to Senior Database Engineering Manager within the Data Services Infrastructure Group, and will require strong team interaction with Data Services staff/peers, other engineering and operations group members within the IT organization, as well as with application and business development teams. In addition to solid/proven GoldenGate administration/management and scripting skills, knowledge and experience with Sybase/Oracle/Unix/Linux platforms/environments/tools (including architectural, operational, and monitoring features), high availability (clustering and related, including replication) solutions, database security related concepts and designs, and storage related concepts, is essential.
Minimum Professional and Technical Skills:
Qualifications:
• 8-10 years of experience, with at least the last 3-5 years as senior/lead DBA in Sybase or Oracle with major responsibilities in a large/challenging database environment.
• 2 to 4 years hands on experience with the GoldenGate product (in CURRENT positions)
• Willingness to work on-call DBA rotations in a 7x24 environment, and expected to handle a mix of database management and engineering responsibilities.
• Hands on Unix and System administration skills as relates to GoldenGate and RDBMS (SUN/Solaris and Linux/RedHat)). Experience with Unix and Perl Scripts is a plus.
• Experience in supporting GoldenGate in a heterogeneous replication environment.
• Understanding of file system and storage concepts, and relevant working experience as required for performing database administration and engineering functions. Knowledge and experience with volume management and cluster-based systems and related product/tool suites (e.g., Veritas).
• Familiarity and knowledge of storage technologies and architectures (SAN, NAS).
• Prior experience in a real-time transaction processing (preferably financial brokerage/banking and/or ecommerce) industry is highly desirable
• Should be highly self-directed and motivated, yet a strong team player, capable of working and managing an environment distributed over different locations, and covering many different types of applications.
• Strong system and communication trouble-shooting skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Minimum Education, Certification, Training:
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field highly desirable.
• Prior experience in a real-time transaction processing (preferably financial brokerage/banking and/or ecommerce) industry is highly desirable
